Terms, plainly.
Last updated October 16, 2026. Draft for the pilot; not yet reviewed by counsel.
What etc. is
etc. is a text-message assistant that helps neighbors trade things one-for-one, in person, with no money involved. You tell it what you have and what you'd like. It suggests trades. You and the other person each decide whether to swap.
Joining and matching
You join etc. by texting us or signing in on our website. By joining, you agree to these terms, including that etc. may match the items you add with items other members have added, to suggest one-for-one trades. A suggested trade only happens if you and the other person both say yes. Leave anytime by texting STOP or removing your items.
Text messages
Members receive automated text messages from etc. about their items, possible trades, and meetups. Message frequency varies; we limit new trade suggestions (about one per day by default). Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time, or HELP for help. Carriers aren't liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Your items and descriptions
Only offer things you own and are allowed to trade. Describe condition honestly, including damage, defects, missing parts, and pet or smoke exposure. etc. never inspects, tests, or authenticates items; any description comes from you and the other member.
Things we don't allow
Weapons and ammunition, drugs and paraphernalia, medicine and supplements, alcohol, tobacco and vapes, hazardous materials, live animals, recalled or counterfeit goods, adult items, and child-safety gear such as car seats. We may remove items or members at our discretion.
Meeting up
Trades happen in person between members. Meet in a public place, bring a friend if you like, and trust your judgment. etc. doesn't share your phone number or address, but you're responsible for your own safety and for the exchange itself. Nothing is reserved until both people say yes. Either person can cancel before the meetup.
Value estimates
etc. estimates used value internally to suggest fair trades. Estimates can be wrong and aren't appraisals or guarantees.
Problems
Text "report" if something goes wrong (a no-show, a misrepresented item, harassment). A person will follow up. etc. is provided as-is during the pilot, and to the extent the law allows, etc. isn't liable for items exchanged between members.
